A 58-year old mother of two is hoping to be Sports Illustrated‘s oldest cover model.
Gym owner and trainer Jodi Harrison-Bauer, from Connecticut in the US, attended the magazine’s open casting call last week, in the hope of winning its annual swimsuit model search.
Harrison-Bauer posted about the experience on Instagram saying, “On my way to embark on a brand new journey today. I need to feel your love and support.”
She hoped the magazine would see that “being 58 brings experience, knowledge and beauty, and confidence”.

“There are a lot of us out here and we need to be heard. You have helped me with that and have given me the confidence to be me. Thank you!,” she wrote.
While Harrison-Bauer would be the oldest model to grace the cover out of an open casting call, Christie Brinkley remains the oldest model to feature in the magazine’s swimsuit issue, posing for the magazine in 2017, when she was 63-years old.
In a casting video attached to her application, Harrison-Bauer said she also wanted to “represent all the women over 55 who think it’s too late to start something new.”
Sports Illustrated said in its open casting call it was looking for “women who are excited about representing and being a part of the iconic SI Swimsuit brand.”
It said “Personality is paramount,” and welcomes all “body types, ethnicities and note there is no ‘industry standard’ height requirement.
“We want to work with models who understand the value of the SI Swimsuit platform and want to take advantage of all that it offers.”
Past Sports Illustrated cover girls include plus-size model Ashley Graham, Elle Macpherson, Rachel Hunter, Kate Upton and Beyoncé Knowles.
