College women's basketball: Bulldogs' streak snapped at 11 – Duluth News Tribune

Senior forward Cassie Askvig scored a career-high 36 points as Mary snapped Minnesota Duluth’s 11-game winning streak 76-67 on Friday night in an NSIC game before 878 at McDowell Activity Center in Bismarck, N.D.

Junior guard Lauren Rotunda added 18 points, 13 rebounds and five steals for the Marauders (12-6 overall, 6-3 NSIC), who took control by outscoring UMD 20-13 in the third quarter to take a 55-50 lead going into the fourth. The Bulldogs would get no closer.

Sophomore Brooke Olson (18 points), junior Payton Kahl (14) and senior Katie Stark (10) all reached double figures in scoring but it wasn’t even as the Bulldogs (11-4, 8-1) suffered their first conference loss. UMD was outrebounded 35-25 and had 17 turnovers.

UMD continues its western swing with an NSIC game at Minot State at 3:30 pm. Saturday before returning home for a pair of conference games at Romano Gym next weekend.
