COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Girl power and self-acceptance were the messaages at the Taking Care of Your Girls mother-daugher breakfast at the Hillside Community Center Saturday.
The Pikes Peak Women’s Health Connection focuses on a different health topic every year. This year’s goal was to come to terms with a positive body image.
“Just thinking about their nutrition and how much they weigh and exercise and all those things,” Susan G. Komen Colorado South executive director Nancetta Westcott said. “We try to deal with that too, and cover specific topics about specific health, but just in general being a woman, being a girl, and being healthy.”
The event was hosted by Susan G. Komen Colorado South and the Sue DiNapoli Ovarian Cancer Society.
