Police: Woman embezzled thousands from health agency – CTPost

HAMDEN — Police arrested a Waterbury woman on larceny charges, claiming she embezzled thousands of dollars from the health care agency she worked at.

According to Hamden Police, in May of 2018, officers responded to an embezzlement complaint at Best Choice Home Health Care, 60 Connolly Parkway.

Police said an investigation revealed that former employee Ashleigh Herring, 33, of Waterbury, stole approximately $68,000 from the business. Herring, who was the payroll supervisor, allegedly paid herself thousands of dollars via direct deposit, for hours that she did not work.

Herring also fraudulently deposited thousands of dollars into her boyfriend’s bank account police said.

Detective Scott Levenduski conducted the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Herring.

Herring was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree larceny. She was held on a court-ordered $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court Sept. 23.
